100 Words on Abuse Advert
The
advert employs commercial ideas as the model is looking straight at the camera.
Her skin is also flawless despite the scar (she has no spots) which is typical
of a foundation advert or of a health care product and that is what the advert
seems to be selling. The advert becomes shocking when we are informed that it
is actually a domestic abuse advert and not one of a health or beauty product.
To me the most ‘shocking’ part of the ad is what the text translates to. This
is because it uses pathos to spark the emotions of those who are abused or see
abuse and asks them rhetorically ‘should you be covering up and hiding the
abuse or should you seek help?’
